Going directly from school to university is not the right choice for everyone. Luckily, you have plenty of options in Ireland – with unique courses and programs offered across the country. Here’s a selection of ideas to get you on the right track…

Leaving Cert Results Day is sometimes designed to be the most important day of your life, which can make the disappointments of the day even more overwhelming. But if there’s one thing we’ve all learned from the challenges of the past few years, it’s that nothing is set in stone and there’s no shortage of ways to leave your mark on the world.

First, it is crucial to get rid of the common misconception that the Leaving Cert-to-university path is the only real path to success. Life is much more interesting than that! Whether you already have your dream job in mind or are still exploring your options, there are many paths to a fulfilling, exciting and worthwhile career. As we all know, the structure of a bachelor’s program is not for everyone. This is why the flexible professional learning – including practical skills and work experience training – offered in FET Levels 5 and 6 courses (also known as Post Leaving Certificate or PLC courses) can be a preferred option for many.

For those looking for something even more hands-on, Teagasc offers a truly unique learning experience inside and outside the classroom, with courses available in all aspects of agriculture sectors. , horticulture, forestry and horses. Their education and training options are provided by Agriculture and Horticulture Colleges, Teagasc Education Centers and in conjunction with Universities and Institutes of Technology, located throughout the country.
