ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Concord University’s Department of Social Work is helping students and alumni better prepare to take and pass the West Virginia State Social Work Licensure Examinations with a new license preparation course. The course was first offered on Friday, May 27, 2022.
Graduates of Concord’s Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs and current students who will soon be graduating have been invited to participate. The course offered assistance in preparing for the Registered Social Worker (LSW) and Registered Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) exams.
The four-hour course was offered online via Zoom and provided free of charge to participants. Robbin Durham, assistant professor of social work, served as the instructor.
“As a program, we provide students with the knowledge and skills to practice as general social workers (BSW) or advanced general social workers (MSW),” Durham said. “Because passing the licensure exam is a crucial step for graduates to work in the field, we provide students with studies, testing strategies and techniques to manage anxiety related to testing, helping them pass the social work exam.”
She said additional classes may be held in the future depending on student interest. To learn more about Concord’s BSW program, click here. Additional MSW information is available here. For more information about Concord University, visit www.concord.edu.
